Botox
Is
the revolutionary treatment that has taken the cosmetic industry by storm. It offers fantastic results for a fraction of the
price of surgery and is non-invasive. It takes approximately 20 minutes with
the only visible signs that you have had any treatment done are a few red marks
that are barely visible, in fact acupuncture marks are more visible.
In
my practise and experience most clients see an effect lasting approximately 3-4
months before re-treatment is required. Although the time between does vary
from client to client and the longer you have the treatment the longer it
lasts.
The
clients who witness the best results are those that have re-treatment before
the full effects of the previous treatment have worn off. Botox
is a fantastic preventative treatment that delays the need for surgery in some
clients considerably.
The
technique that I use prevents the tell tale ‘Botox
mask’ (no upper facial expressions). This technique is very popular as the
effects that are seen are subtle and yet dramatic with upper facial expressions
used but without the wrinkles. Subtle in the fact that no-one actually knows
what is different, but there is a marked improvement. Dramatic as the results
seen are remarkable.

FAQ’s
My wrinkles are worse in
another area?
Botox does not make your lines worse in any other area due to over
compensation of those muscles. If you are seeing lines in that area they were
already there, just not your focal point. This is a myth.
A wrinkle has appeared
where there was not any?
Botox will not cause any lines or wrinkles to form where none were
previously. This is again from the myth that you over compensate with the other
muscles.
I cant
see any improvement?
A
common statement is that no improvement can be seen. Upon further discussion or
examination, the clients can’t see any improvement in the area in question as
that area was not injected or targeted in the first place. For example, if you
have your frown targeted you wont see any improvement in your crows feet or
forehead lines. They are totally different muscles group. In effect its like saying I’ve had my kitchen redecorated but my
bathroom doesn’t look any different.
Will the injection hurt?
A
common description of the actual injection is that it is like a bee sting.
However, having been stung by a bee botox is nowhere
near as painful. You may feel a slight scratch or discomfort or a slight
stinging sensation, like with any injection. In most cases the thought is
actually worse and it’s over before you know it.
Will I get a droopy eye?
One
of the side effects of botox is that in very rare
cases there is a chance of ‘droopy eye’. If you do have any side effect from
this treatment it is temporary and reversible. Like every medical drug there
are side effects to botox.
To
prevent any unwanted side effect or reaction it is essential that you follow
the aftercare given. It is essential that you do not use a caci
machine for up to 2 weeks after a treatment or have a facial for a week after.
This is because the force of the massage could displace the botox
and make it seep into the neighbouring muscles.
Botox is from botulism virus – the same as food poisoning. Will I
get ill?
The
honest answer is no. The amount of botox that is used
is so minimal that it could not make you ill. Botox is
a man - made purified protein derived from the botulism toxin. Botox has been used in a number of years in children as
young as 2 with cerebral palsy to help them walk – the amount used in these
young children is 10 times more than what is used for all 3 areas on an adult
face.
How long does it take to
work?
Usually
it is anytime up to 2 weeks. Some people see an effect within a few days and
others don’t see a result until day 14. It all depends on the strength of
muscle, the area injected and your own body.
Unfortunately,
botox is not an elixir to mend all – it is fantastic
but it is not a miracle and this is why consultations are needed and realistic
expectations are required. Whilst it will diminish lines and for some they will
go altogether but on others there may be a faint line left. Again it depends on
your body not the product. In some cases a treatment of filler may be required.
Juvederm
Juvederm is what is referred as dermal filler’. Simply
this means that a substance is injected under the skin to fill a desired line
or wrinkle. Juvederm is a non-bovine collagen; this
means that it is a man made chemical rather than a calf collagen. The technical
term for this chemical is hylorolic acid. The word
‘acid’ makes it sound severe but this chemical is found naturally in the human
body in connective tissue.
Juvederm is made from the same thing that the better
known product is made from – Restylane. Personally I
prefer the products from Q-med. However, of you desire a product from Q-med I
will give you these products. The price will be different from juvederm as the company that make Restylane,
Perlane etc are more expensive and if you require
more than one syringe it will be double the price.
Juvederm comes in three strengths 18, 24 and 30

FAQ’s
What is the difference
between juvederm 18, 24 & 30?
The
basic differences are that they don’t last as long as each other, they are used
for different areas, and they are different strengths and different amounts.
The
reason that juvederm 18 & 24 is the same price is
that they last roughly the same length of time.
Juvederm 18 is used for superficial lines such as
smokers’ lines above the lips, forehead lines and crows feet.
Juvederm 24 is used for the frown lines, sever forehead
lines, and nose to mouth lines, oral commisure , smokers lines and crows feet and the vermillion border.
Juvederm 30 is used for the same areas as Juvederm 24; however juvederm 30
lasts a lot longer than juvederm 24 and on some
people gets a better effect from the thicker product, especially those with
deeper lines.
Juvederm 30 is also used for lip augmentation and facial
contouring (cheeks).
Will it hurt?
These
injections are painful without topical anaesthetic; however I give all clients
who have the fillers a topical anaesthetic. This usually takes around 30 – 40
minutes to work and the pain is very minimal, it is more uncomfortable.
Lip
augmentation is more painful than the other areas due to the fact that the lips
are very sensitive. For this I offer dental block, but due to the nature if
this product there is a charge.
Why does it look red when
I’ve first had it done?
Initially
after the injections, the area will be inflamed and slightly red, this is
natural and to be expected. This redness is partly due to the needle and the
massage that is needed to spread the product for a desirable effect. The
redness will disappear as will the inflammation.
I
strongly advise that should you have anything planned such as a party, wedding
etc that you want to look fantastic for that you book in for your treatment
either a week before or the day after. That way there will be no obvious marks
etc.
I have a line that is
worse now than before I had the filler?
Again,
as with botox, the product does not have the ability
to make any line or any existing line worse than it was prior to treatment.
What is likely to have happened is that your attention will have moved onto
another area.
Will I bruise?
As
with every injection there is a risk that you will bruise. It largely depends
on the area you have done, your skin type and certain medication. To reduce
your risk of bruising I strongly advise that if you take aspirin please stop a
few days before as this increases your chances of bruising.
Can everyone have it?
Not
everyone can have the dermal fillers. It is not suitable for those who are
pregnant or breast feeding. Those who have auto-immune or
neurological disorders. This is why we ensure you have a proper
consultation and discussed it with your GP or Consultant.
The effects aren’t as
good as when I first had it done?
After
an initial period the inflammation and product settles down into what will be
your ‘finished’ look. For those who have very deep lines the plumpest effect
will ware off. You may need a top-up of the product. However, any top-up that
you want is the same as your initial treatment. It has been known that some
people can require 4 or 5 treatments – but this is very rare. In my experience
most people only require 2 at most.
How long does it last?
Again
this depends on the product that you had injected. Juvederm
18 and 24 lasts from 6 to 8 months. In the lip area in juvederm
24 is used the effect may only last 6 months.
Juvederm 30 lasts approximately 12 months, unless it is
used in lip augmentation and then it lasts up to 8 – 10 months.
Why does lip augmentation
not last as long?
The
reason that the results of lip augmentation isn’t as long lasting as the other
areas is because the lips are constantly in use, from speaking, drinking, eating,
nervous habits, kissing and smiling.
Sculptra
Sculptra is a relatively new product on the British
Aesthetic market.
However,
in other European countries it has been for approximately 10 years, having gone
by another name.
Unlike
Juvederm or other hyloronic
acid, Sculptra is made of Poly-l-lactic acid. This
acid is also found naturally in the human body.
Sculptra is much thinner than Juvederm.
The product when injected forms a ‘bridge’ enabling your own natural collagen
to build up on top of the product.
Since
the product is thinner and not a ‘polyfiller’ type
product, it has been found that it is not suitable for lip augmentation at all.
Sculptra
The
whole treatment consists of two separate appointments 3 – 6 weeks apart (the
length between the appointment is dependant on age and
depth of lines).

the unlikely even a further top up is needed it begins at £50 depending the

FAQ’s
Why can’t it be used in
the lips?
Sculptra is unsuitable for the lips as the molecules
settle they absorb water this means that the lips become lumpy and uneven.
Juvederm doesn’t do this because it is like jelly as
opposed to ice-cream.
Where can sculptra be used?
Sculptra can be used in all other areas that Juvederm can (except for the lips and smokers lines). The
best results however have been seen in facial contouring, especially the
cheeks, sunken eyes and tremples.
Especially,
as Juvederm can not be used in the eye bag area.
What is the difference
between Juvederm and Sculptra?
Juvederm is very popular as the results can be seen
straight away and there is usually only one treatment needed.
With
Sculptra the treatment results take much longer to be
seen. An initial improvement is seen straight after the procedure but this
reduces dramatically during the first 3 weeks. This is why the treatment is
done ion two halves 3-6 weeks apart.
Which do you recommend?
Personally
speaking, I find that Juvederm is fantastic for the
basic lines. However, for the cheek and eye area results from Sculptra are much better. Due to the product being thinner
there is more movement when injecting. Also the product lasts up to 24 months.
Finally the texture is more natural to feel – this is your own benefit.
How long does it last?
Sculptra can last up to 24 months. However, the length
does depend on varying factors including the area, your age, your skin type and
how well you carry out the after care instructions.
What are the after care
instructions?
It
is essential that as part of your morning and evening facial care routine you
massage the area effectively and thoroughly. However, this will all be
explained at your treatment and consultation.
Why is it more expensive
than Juvederm?
Sculptra is more expensive for a few reasons. The first
being that it is much more expensive to purchase, the treatment requires a lot
of product, the actual treatment is much longer to do.
Chemical peels
It
is widely thought that chemical peels are best used for the face, but there are
many other areas and uses for these chemical peels, which I will detail in
turn.
Face
This
is the most invasive, only because it is the most seen place. The peels of like
when you are sunburnt; until the process is completed there will be patchy
areas with red areas, new skin and some areas more tanned. This can cause
distress to clients, especially if you have to go to work and as some people
are very rude if you go into town or shopping they will stare.
Hands
The
peels are fantastic for ageing hands and liver spots. When used in conjunction
with certain specific creams the appearance of hands can be taken back decades.
Straight after the peel the hands look very dehydrated and old – and this is
normal.
Scars
There
are certain scars that have fantastic results form these treatments.
Stretch marks
As
anyone who has stretch marks knows these are the Bain of weight loss and gain,
having children or even medication. It is widely stated that there is nothing
that can prevent them and they will fade, the only preventative option is cocoa
butter cream and this doesn’t work.
When
used with a cream and a full course the signs are massively reduced if not
removed altogether.

make-up that actors use which makes them look so perfect. It removes
pigmentation, spots and uneven skin tone.
The
face make-up covers bruises.
I
also offer a body, leg and arm make-up that covers scars, varicose veins and
thread veins.
Camouflage
make-up is an ideal solution for everyday wear and for those special occasions
where you want to look your best.
When
you buy any of the products that I offer I provided a training session so that
you can apply the make-up and get the fantastic results that everyone desires.
These

Once
applied the make-up last 24 hours and it’s totally waterproof and smudge proof.
So that you can use the body camouflage and go swimming without removing it.
As
only a small amount of the product is required the amount you buy lasts much
longer than the retail products.
